# Overview

Keycafe SmartBoxes are cloud-connected devices designed to enable secure key exchange and access management across industries such as the sharing economy, property management, automotive, real estate, and facilities management.

If you have purchased a SmartBox, you can use the API to control the device or retrieve detailed information about it.

SmartBox objects include critical hardware information such as:

* Cellular signal strength
* Power source status
* Battery level

The API provides functionality to:

* Retrieve information about individual SmartBoxes or a list of SmartBoxes.
* Unlink a SmartBox from an assigned location.
